Shooting and assault cases have seen an increase in New Brunswick in the past few years. Despite the developments of projects to oversee the growth of the city and reduce the level of crime rates, violent crimes remain high. This was evident with the armed robbery of a pizza delivery man who was robbed at gun point by three suspected robbers.
From the police affidavits, it is believed that on the 7th of May 2013 at 9.30 PM, a pizza delivery man who had gone to deliver a pizza to a client based in the Northern building of the Quincy Circle Complex was attacked and his valuables stolen from him. It is alleged that, upon reaching his delivery destination, the client thought to have ordered the pizza turned away the delivery man after he said that he had not ordered the delivered pizza. The delivery man turned back with his pizza to his delivery car, and that is when he was confronted by three male suspects who claimed to have ordered the pizza.
From the reports filed at the police post, it is believed that one of the three suspects pulled out a gun and placed it on the pizza delivery man’s head. The suspects then proceeded to rob the man of his valuables and the pizza before running towards the parking lot where they drove off with an old dark colored minivan. The pizza delivery man reported the case to the police where the matter was taken over and investigations of the robbery launched.
The investigation which was led by Det. Ron Seaman in conjunction with the Middlesex County Prosecutor Office obtained valuable cell phone information from the site during the alleged robbery which led to an arrest. The suspect, Parysh Wood who also goes by the alias P gun was apprehended after the mobile data connection obtained from the site at the time of the incident was traced to him. According to police, Wood was the leader of the gang that attacked the pizza delivery guy.
Thanks to the advancement in technology, the police officers involved with the investigation were able to arrest the three culprits involved within a span of only four months. The investigators traced the communication pattern used by Wood to trace him down.
In another incident dated October 7th, 2015, a shooting incident where one person was injured was reported to the police. The shooting occurred at the New Brunswick Apartments in New Jersey, one of the few places that have seen an increase in the cases of armed robbery. These two cases clearly indicate the deplorable security nature of the city, as well as the willingness of the police to deal with the underlying security issues.
